Tree III
Gampi and Kozo fiber casting

With the desire of sensing, understanding, and revealing, I engage in a labor-intensive process of preparing fiber and making the papercasting to expose an anonymous, partial presence of a tree isolated from the urban forest.

The casting sharpens the texture on the surface of the original tree and picks up the density. It is ghostly hung up in the air and defines space without filling it. Having an undefined boundary, the negative space of the casting constantly fluctuates with the empty background, stimulating the viewer's imagination.
