Tree II + Frame I
handmade Kozo paper casting

In today’s re-greened urban spaces, street trees are isolated from one another and confined by the grid. The tree and its frame are “naturally” fused as an entity in people’s perception. “Tree II” stages an illusional situation by separating the tree from the frame in a shared space to further highlight the tension in between. A dialectical relationship between absence and presence is generated by the empty space both in between and within the two castings.
